Beslet HPP: forest engineering memory without unsafe access
Beslet HPP is an atmospheric engineering site in a forest valley, but access and safe boundaries need to be judged on site. View it from permitted points, avoid technical zones and keep time for the return route.
The old HPP can look like a stone house among trees: water nearby, damp air, valley shade and a sense of engineering memory. But it is not a set for free exploration — the priority is knowing where you can stand safely, not getting closer at any cost.
Why It Stays in Memory
The HPP shows how water, road and early infrastructure meet in the valley. Together with Besletsky Bridge: a stone arch above a forest river near Sukhum, it can make a calm route on Sukhum’s forest edge if the weather is dry and the group has time in reserve.
Access and Boundaries
Do not expect permanent signs, lighting or open interiors. Closed doors, barriers, work traces or unclear passages should be treated as boundaries. Do not enter technical areas, test old stairs or stand close to water after rain.
How to Fit It into a Route
Use the HPP as a short stop between the bridge and other suburban points, not as a mandatory item on a long checklist. If the road is wet, water is high or the group is tired, it is better to limit the day to Besletsky Bridge: a stone arch above a forest river near Sukhum and leave Chernigovka Canyon: water, walkways and a careful pace near Sukhum or Beslekha Fortress: a forest ruin near Sukhum with careful route choices for another outing.
Details
Practical: with old infrastructure, current condition matters more than atmosphere.
- Stay in open, clearly safe places.
- Do not cross barriers or enter rooms without clear permission.
- After rain, be cautious near water, slabs and walkways.
- The sequence Besletsky Bridge: a stone arch above a forest river near Sukhum — Chernigovka Canyon: water, walkways and a careful pace near Sukhum — Beslekha Fortress: a forest ruin near Sukhum with careful route choices needs an early start and room for turnarounds.
