Swimming at the Three Cauldrons: optional, cold and condition-dependent
Swimming at Три Котла у Нового Афона: каменные чаши с переменными условиями is never the guaranteed point of the route. Cold water, slippery stone, changing depth and rain-fed current mean the sensible plan is to check conditions first and be ready to enjoy the pools without entering them.
The Three Cauldrons may look like an obvious swimming spot, but the water does not have to cooperate. Cold, depth, cloudiness, wet rock, post-rain flow and crowding at the pools should decide whether you enter the water or stay on shore.
Deciding at the Water
Before entering, assess level, current, visibility, bottom, entry and exit. Do not jump or dive: depth changes, submerged rocks are hard to read and rain can strengthen the flow quickly. If the water is cloudy, fast or crowded at the edge, the no-swim version becomes the main plan.
What Helps
At Три Котла у Нового Афона: каменные чаши с переменными условиями, water shoes, dry clothes, a protected phone, a small towel and a warm layer for afterward are practical. Keep bags away from the edge, do not leave food or wipes near the stream and supervise children closely even in shallow-looking water.
Fitting the Stop Into the Day
Do not make swimming the required finale after a tasting, heat or a climb. If the approach is muddy, stones are slick or the group is tired, settle for a dry view, shade and an unhurried return.

The goal is a balanced town day, not a race through every headline stop.
