Storm at the Colonnade: watch beautifully, stand far back
Watch a storm at Колоннада Гагры: белые арки у моря only from a dry, high and easy-to-read point. Waves, salt, wind, wet steps and sudden spray call for distance, a waterproof layer, protected gear and willingness to leave without the shot.
In storm weather the Gagra promenade becomes expressive, but the same wet stone, salt in the air and empty-looking promenades create risk. A good photo does not justify standing at the edge, turning your back to the sea or testing whether a wave can reach you.
Where to watch
Choose a point higher and drier than the spray line, with a clear route back. Do not climb railings, stand on parapets or go down wet steps: waves and wind can change the shoreline faster than it appears.
What to consider
Near Колоннада Гагры: белые арки у моря, strong waves leave paving, stairs and kerbs slippery, while salt spray quickly affects visibility and gear. Keep phone or camera protected, put equipment away before gusts and do not leave children near the wet edge.
When to leave
If passage is closed, wind increases, thunder starts, the surface is fully wet or people crowd near an unsafe point, end the walk. Return to the shore after the storm only when footing is readable again and does not require crossing barriers.
